Archery

Sonora's outdoor archery range has two covered shooting stations and targets set at 18-50 meters to accommodate archers of all skills and experiences.Your guide will begin with a safety briefing followed by equipment and form fundamentals, giving beginners the confidence to shoot like a pro. For experienced archers, your guide will help you hone your skills and teach you new tips and tricks. For your comfort and safety, a maximum of 4 participants and 2 shooters at a time are permitted.

Bar and Restaurant

Perched over the swirling Yuculta Rapids, where it's common to see Bald eagles, Harbour seals, Steller sea lions and large marine mammals feasting in the nutrient-rich waters nearby, the Tyee Dining Room is Sonora's principal culinary establishment.Inspired by nature, the Dining Room features sweeping windows that frame the ocean view, a large live aquarium teeming with marine life from the surrounding waters, a grand piano and a unique artwork collection.Complement the exquisite talents of Sonora's culinary team with wine from our award-winning cellar, featuring more than 1,500 bottles and over 400 selections of local and internationally sourced varietals. Biking

Well-marked hiking and biking trails meander through the lush Pacific rainforest of Sonora Island. Shorter loops take you through the woods to lookout points, while a longer 5-kilometre hike, following an old logging road, leads to Florence Lake where you can picnic and swim. Light hiking boots or running shoes are recommended for all trails, and bringing along a set of bear bells is also a good idea. For your safety, let the gift shop know where you are headed and your estimated return time.

Billiard

The Tyee Lodge is home to our 12-seat cinema, complete with an old-fashioned popcorn machine, satellite TV and more than 350 titles. In the main lodge, our Games Room provides endless entertainment with pool, shuffleboard and foosball tables, as well as gaming consoles. There are also two golf simulators which, using virtual technology, allow you to tee off at the world's greatest courses without leaving Sonora. Pick the place, your perfect Titleist club and play on.

Bird Watching

The birds in the surrounding are are truly marvelous, soaring in open sky, fluttering from branch to branch, wading by the shoreline and swooping over river estuaries. The unique geography of this area creates a myraid of feeding opportunities: the ocean waters teem with plant and animal life, the rocky shorelines are thick with mollusks, and lush, fertile forests cover the island and the mainland.

Boardroom Meeting Space

The Innes Conference Centre is nestled in a tranquil garden with ocean views and a wraparound covered porch. It is home to 8 flexible meeting spaces that can be arranged as boardrooms or divided by retractable walls to create multiple break-out spaces. All rooms are equipped with large projector screens. Make use of the five available workstations overlooking the garden with full printing services.

Boat Excursions

The surrounding area provides some of the most amazing wildlife viewing on the Pacific coast. Dozens of bald eagles and other birds swirl over the rapids and swoop down to pluck fish from the whirlpools, while stellar sea lions, Dall's porpoises, and Pacific white-sided dolphins gather in nearby waters to feed. During the summer, killer whales occasionally visit the channels surrounding Sonora Island, offering some of the best whale watching opportunities in the world. Other less common visitors include humpback, grey and minke whales and elephant seals. Our eco adventure and whale watching boat, the Eagle Master, is an open 28ft inflatable boat capable of speeds of 40 knots or 70kms an hour. The Eagle Master carries up to twelve guests and is equipped with a hydrophone and headset system. Headphones enable you to listen to whale songs and other under-sea sounds, as well as the narration of our experienced wilderness guides.

Business Center

Sonora's business center offers five Internet-ready workstations, 4 meeting rooms, all equipped with projection screens, and plentiful plug-ins for visitors' laptops. Complimentary high speed WIFI is available throughout the property. You can also make use of our colour printer, fax machine and scanner.

Canoeing

Enjoy a delightful day trip to Florence Lake, a serene mountain lake where guests can paddle canoes or stand-up paddleboards, take a refreshing dip in the water or simply relax in the beautiful surroundings. Enjoy a picnic lunch at your leisure before returning to the resort.The shuttle van travels 10 kilometres roundtrip. Guests can walk to or from the lake, however, you must still pre-book the equipment. The hike is medium difficulty, with some steep inclines. Allow 1–1.5 hours each way.Please note that the watersports are not a guided activity and that use of the equipment is at your own risk. Washroom facilities are available on site.

Deep Sea Fishing

Sonora is situated in a region well protected from open ocean swells, and is surrounded with picturesque wildlife and stunning emerald and turquoise waters. Combined with our state of the art vessels, fishing here couldn't get any more comfortable. In addition to ocean fishing and Fly Fishing Ponds, Sonora offers River Fly Fishing. The central coast of British Columbia offers many trout and salmon-bearing river systems that are accessible by boat from Sonora Resort. Fishing opportunities change throughout the season, with different species available at certain times of the year. Please note that all fly-fishing experiences are catch and release. If are keen to reach even more remote and untouched locations, Sonora also offers Helicopter Fly Fishing. Helicopter transportation allows us to take you to the most spectacular and pristine rivers and lakes in the Pacific Northwest. Fishing these prime locations are an experience that will last a lifetime.

Fly Fishing

With two well-stocked trout ponds and fly fishing rods or spin casting rods available at the dock station, we have everything you need for fishing onsite. The rainbow trout stocked in these ponds are for catch-and-release only. A formal, 1-hour fly fishing lesson can also be arranged with an instructor.

Game Room

Sonora Resort's games room has something for every taste, from high tech to traditional. Games include shuffleboard, and a pool table. The exclusive home theater is the ideal way to unwind at the end of the day at our luxury wilderness resort. Pick from a wide selection of DVDs, or access satellite programming and settle into one of our twelve custom seats to watch the seven-foot wide screen with THX surround sound. The theater room is also equipped with Playstation 2, Xbox and assorted game titles.

Gift Shop

The Sonora gift shop is more than a regular gift store. It is filled with brands you love, including Lululemon and Arc'teryx athletic wear, Maui Jim sunglasses and more.

Golf Nearby

You can travel to Storey Creek Golf Course by helicopter, or a combination of boat and bus or seaplane and bus. The Storey Creek Golf Course is situated in a beautiful forest with ponds and salmon streams. It is an 18 hole, par 72 course with all of the amenities, including a pro shop, restaurant and clubhouse.

Hiking Trails

Enthusiasts will enjoy the pristine Florence Lake nestled four kilometers behind the resort at the end of a beautiful, clearly marked hiking trail. The resort supplies maps and bear bells, and if you wish to venture further, one of our experienced hiking guides will be happy to show you around.

Kayaking

The peaceful quiet of paddling makes a kayaking tour the ideal way to commune with British Columbia's nature, up close.
