Stay in the heart of the city. In the mid-twentieth century Christian Restorff started building a new hotel in Torshavn. The hotel opened in 1951 and was named "Hafnia". In the following decades the hotel expanded drastically, and as time went Hotel Hafnia became the biggest hotel in the Faroe Islands. Hotel Hafnia has 79 rooms in total and 4 cottages. All rooms are non-smoking rooms. They offer rooms for people who suffer from allergy. At Hotel Hafnia they are always ready to accommodate the guests. The reception is open 24/7. The chefs in the restaurant are trained professionals, and they love challenging themselves by cooking new food every day - from scratch of course. We recommend visiting the lighthouse at Akraberg on the southernmost tip of the island and also Beinisvord, to enjoy the magnificent panorama that unfolds when you get to the top. The village of Famjin, situated in beautiful and dramatic surroundings, is also well worth a visit. The original Faroese flag hangs in the church.
